Chapelford Sport - Welcome Statement

Chapelford Sport

Chapelford Village Primary School is dedicated to raising standards of PE across the school. All pupils are involved in an enriched sports programme which is based on: invasion and net games and striking and fielding activities, dance, athletics and gymnastics. The fundamentals of PE are delivered via the REAL PE scheme.

Every pupil has the opportunity to participate within a fun, challenging and rewarding sport environment where pupils are encouraged to express themselves through physical activity.

Statement from Ofsted 2013

In April 2013, the Government announced new funding of £150 million for physical education (PE) and sport. This funding has been used to improve the quality and breadth of PE at Chapelford Village Primary School. Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.

This year at Chapelford Village Primary School, we have used the funding to:

    1. To supplement costs of providing increased number and variety of after-school clubs

    2. To engage children with active healthy lifestyles and introduce them to a wider variety of sports

    3. To purchase resources to ensure delivery of High Quality PE curriculum

    4. To purchase competition kits for tournaments

    5. Support delivery of REAL PE across the school

    6. To purchase permanent outdoor playground equipment to engage children in physical activity at break-times and lunchtimes
