Year 3

Hi everyone,

It was so lovely to speak to so many of you and catch up about what you have all been doing. Thank you so much to those of you who have been sending messages, photos and work to us to have a look at. We have loved seeing all of your hard work and creativity.

This week, Mrs Cotterill has been doing a press-up challenge to become nice and strong. How many can you do? Can you improve? Freddie has been trying to stay cool in this very hot weather. I hope you have all been wearing your sun cream. Tabitha has used the sunflower which she planted to do some science learning. Miss Pearson has been keeping healthy too with lots of exercise. Oscar has written a very interesting report about trolls.  They sound very scary. Keira’s report taught us lots about Trolls too! Did you know that trolls love seafood? We love your story Zoe all about Harvey the dog.  Miss Pearson is so pleased to see so many children enjoying writing. Mrs Astley has been taking long walks enjoying the sun and fresh air. Saskia has been working hard doing her school work and has also been sewing a sloth! She has also been learning how to do British Sign Language. What a wonderful skill to learn!

Reading Plus:
Class 12 are winning! As a class, 417 reading lessons have been completed! Well done everyone. A special well done to our leader board for the most sessions completed so far:

Weekly Learning
The documents below outline the weekly learning for your year group.  Maths and English activities can be completed daily - children should be able to complete these independently.  The wider curriculum document contains curriculum based challenges which can be completed across a two week period.  

Resources to support the wider curriculum learning. 

The Maths and English sections below contain optional learning resources.  These can be used if children would like to develop their learning further.  The maths activities provided by First 4 Maths involve learning about maths in a fun and creative way.  The English documents offer a range of creative writing opportunities.  


White Rose Maths are releasing daily maths lessons during the school closure.  Every lesson comes with a short video showing you clearly and simply how to help your child to complete the activity successfully.

Year 3 - Daily Maths Lessons

Oxford Owl will be offering a range of free support so that children can continue their Read Write Inc. learning journey away from the classroom during these uncertain times. This will include a ‘phonics spine’ of 72 free eBooks matched to Read Write Inc. levels, along with 62 Speed Sounds practice sheets, 28 Ditty practice sheets, parent information booklets and 8 Speedy Green Words slideshows. These free resources will all be added to the Read Write Inc. page on Oxford Owl for Home over the coming weeks.
Read Write Inc are also producing daily phonics lessons.  These will be available on their YouTube channel.
