Chapelford Village Primary School is committed to nurturing well-rounded individuals and preparing them for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. Our "World of Work Week" serves as a testament to our dedication to providing innovative and enriching educational experiences for our children.

Last week, our Year 6 students embarked on an engaging and insightful "World of Work Week." The action-packed week kicked off with a series of visits from accomplished professionals who shared their career journeys and provided fascinating insights into their respective fields. This included a pilot, counsellor, Olympic judge, paramedic, social marketer and many more!

It was fantastic to see the children listen to a wide range of careers and ask some insightful questions. The children were captivated as a pilot explained the intricacies of flying and the advantage of travelling the world! A counsellor supported our school focus on mental health and wellbeing and how rewarding this can be to support others. These interactive sessions allowed the students to broaden their horizons and gain a deeper understanding of various professions. Many expressed newfound aspirations and discovered career paths they had never considered before.

The culmination of the week was a role-reversal day on Friday, where children applied for positions across the school as teachers, teaching assistants, deputy headteacher and headteacher! Dressed in their professional attire, they took charge of classrooms, becoming teachers and teaching assistants. Some even stepped into the shoes of the head teacher and deputy, overseeing the smooth operation of the school for the day! The Year 6 children embraced their new responsibilities with enthusiasm and professionalism. In addition to their teaching duties, the students had their very own staff room, which served as a hub for planning, collaboration and even some refreshments!

The Year 6 team expressed their pride in the students' accomplishments during the World of Work week. As the school year comes to a close, we hope that our Year 6 children can look back on their "World of Work Week" as an inspiring experience, one that has broadened their perspectives and prepared them for the exciting journey ahead.
